As society evolves, old forms dissolve replaced by new ones that reflect changes in perception about the world in which we live. For twenty years, ARTS 220 has offered work by significant 20th century American and European designers that reflect these changes. Featured is Line Vautrin, William Spratling, Georg Jensen, Pierre Cardin, Coppola e Toppo, and Jakob Bengel, among others.
Our emphasis is on strong innovative forms and materials that integrate art and industry - objects that introduce a new aesthetic of beauty more relevant than the old. We seek modernist pieces that were ignited by new ideas.
